What’s a task, and how can readers post pictures?
Pretty much every daily post contains an idea you might want to try. On a Saturday, the posts are summarised in a round-up, and I suggest a task. You have seven days to have a think and maybe attempt this post, and if you want others to see it and give you feedback, to come and post it as a reply. I’m really hoping that we will all share our progress and have fun doing it.
I’m always interested to hear how you get on, so don’t be afraid to leave me a comment.
How can I post my pictures?
This blog will be all the richer for pictures posted by its users. If you’re trying out some of the tasks or ideas, and you’re not shy, post your results in the comments section.
If you’re not sure how to do that, read on:
|
Scan or take a digital photo of your work. Save it to a folder on your own computer. |
|
Your picture has to be somewhere on the internet so that you can tell the browser where to look for it. There are plenty of free sites especially for storing pictures such as photobucket.com or flickr.com. |
|
Remember that your picture has to be small enough to fit into the comments box. Please resize it to be at largest 460 pixels across. Some sites (like Photobucket) will automatically generate the code for you that you need to put into your comment to display the picture. It will look something like this:
IMG means image and SRC means source, and the whole tag just tells the browser where to look for the picture. On Flickr, go to ‘all sizes’ above the image you want to post, then choose ’small’ or ‘medium’. Below the picture, you’ll see some HTML you can simply copy and paste into your comment.

Unfortunately because of spam, I have to moderate all comments from new users before they publish out. So there may be a slight delay before your comment appears. If your image is unsuitable for publication (for example, if it’s too big), and you have left your email address, I’ll let you know. NOTE: I am currently closing posts for comments after a couple of weeks, in an effort to combat spam. There’s no rule to say you have to show your work under the relevant post, though - you can always comment on the latest post and link back to the one you’re talking about. |
If you are having any problems posting your pictures, let me know.
Here is a good idea from kake: if you are using Flickr, why not tag your images ‘drawanyway’? That way, everyone will be able to find each other’s work.

That’s all. Just leave your comment as usual and put in your IMG tag where you’d like the picture to appear.
I just want to say how much I enjoy your blog! It is so useful and inspiring. I love the negative space technique, it’s a really good idea that I was practicing just the other day, having had it hammered in at art college. But I was really low on inspiration, but to think of simple things like kitchen items (and I love packaging design too), it’s such a good idea! Thank you!
Hooray! Thank YOU!
That was fun! Thanks for the kickstart. Posted the task to my site
Beautiful - LOVE the eyes and expressions.
