Potato printing - a video from Bingo McDingo
Bingo McDingo is another keen Draw Anyway reader who answered my recent plea for guest posts - and he did it in style, with a video post! Now, you might think you know everything about potato printing. You learned it in primary school, didn’t you? But I bet you can learn a few new tips from Bingo’s tutorial. Besides, it’s fun, especially when he nearly chops his finger off.
Note - if you are reading this post as a feed, and you can’t see the embedded video, please go to the Draw Anyway page to view.
Did Bingo forget anything? What’s your favourite potato printing tip? Have you got any good prints to show us? Why not sit down with your children today and have a go? I think I will.

That was fabulous! Really nicely edited too! As a potato print lover I have to say that was very well executed and the only thing i have to add really if that if you’re so inclined using glue and glitter instead of paint can have great effects too..
Wow, glitter? Sounds like Christmas! :D
*must buy poster paints*
I don’t have kids (other than a husband and two cats, which can seem as much work as a kid) but loved doing this when *I* was a kid. I wanna go now! ;-p
*wonders if watercolour would do the trick* lol
Try it, and post the results!
If you have cats, you don’t need potatoes. In my experience they will use their own paws given half a chance - usually over a white sofa or similar.
Love the video, and great idea. Gonna get back in touch with my inner child artist and make my own wrapping paper with potato prints. Maybe use gold metallic poster paint and print it on brown kraft paper.
Then again, I have three cats. Maybe I’ll put them work.
That does sound very elegant. Nice!
