Win the Art Doodle book
I’m delighted to bring you Draw Anyway’s first ever competition. Up for grabs is The Art Doodle book, a sketch pad with a difference.
When I was at school, my art teacher used to rail earnestly against the current trend for ‘colour by numbers’ kits - the kind where each segment of the image was numbered, and a little key told you which paint to place there.
On the other hand, she might have been more impressed by this book, which cleverly encourages creativity while giving you a bit of a head start, and some Art History education too.
The concept is fairly simple: you’re shown a work by one of 26 world-famous artists, then invited to doodle away on a page where just a small section has been started off for you in the style of that artist.
I think this’d be a good approach for those just starting out in drawing, or those who are plain stuck. It’s nice to have a visual clue, and working in the style of someone quite different to your own stuff might just open up a new seam of creativity. My only quibble is that it’s all in black and white, and it’d obviously have been more visually appealing in lush full colour.
Still, it’d be a great gift for Christmas, either for yourself or for an arty friend. As I say, you can win my copy, which was sent to me by the publishers for review. Just leave a comment below, making sure you fill in a genuine email address so I can contact you if you are the winner. You can get an extra chance of winning by linking from your blog or website to Draw Anyway, and telling me you’ve done so. The winner will be picked at random on Monday the 29th of October.
If you don’t win, you might also be interested in this special offer for Draw Anyway readers: £2.00 off the standard retail price, and free postage & packing. Simply quote “Art/Draw” when you order the book:

I think that my nephew would love this.
Looks like a fun book.
This would be perfect fro my 11 yr old son…he finishes his school work quickly (he is way above average for his class) and the techers & I find doodles all over his work pages, this would be great fro him to take to his classes so he does not draw on his work anymore, plus keep him occupied so he does not disturb the other students.
Thanks for the opportunity!

This sounds like a great book. I always thought I couldn’t draw as a kid and about 4 years ago, I realized I have some talent in that area. This looks like just the thing to help me develop that.
This looks really cool. I’d love it!
What a wonderful idea for all of us doodlers out there;). I too got in lots of trouble for doodling in other folks workbooks that I was supposed to be correcting as a student. Oh well. I’d love to win this . Thank you!

Congratulations, Gina - you are the winner!

Oh id love to have this! My brother in law is such an amazing artist but has trouble figuring out what to do. I want him to go to school for it, and maybe getting him to do this would help.
I hate seeing talented people just fade away.
