Weekend draw: mutual portraits
I thought this would be fun: an art project you have to do with a friend. Sit down and draw each other. Then post the results here! You have all weekend to do it.
It might work well with a child, too.
Here’s this week’s round-up. Remember that none of these posts have been closed for comments yet, so if you’d like to go back and add your two cents’ worth, please do.
We had a theme this week: drawing faces.
> On Monday, it was an introduction, with a look at proportion and a link to a site telling you how to use it.
> On Tuesday, the message was that once you are happy with those basics, you can play about and see interesting effects.
> On Wednesday, the topic was how to get a likeness.
> On Thursday, I tried to move your face-drawing away from what you learned as a child.
> And on Friday, the plan was to keep all that in mind and start having some fun with your face-drawing.
Back to the normal way of things next week - no theme. Meanwhile, have a great weekend and thanks for reading!

Had lots of fun doing this with my daughter at the weekend. She drew me and I drew her, quite a tricky task as her face was so mobile with concentration as she drew: she constantly stuck her tongue out, darted her eyes about and moved her head up and down to look. This is her drawing - funny how I was sitting on the other end of the sofa but she chose to portray me standing up. She paid a lot of attention to smaller details though - jewellery, the pattern on my top, the length of my hair.
…and this is my portrait of her.
After a while I noticed her feet were in a lovely pose (and keeping much stiller!) so I made a couple of sketches of them too.
Love all of these, but the feet one most of all.
