    Links: Moleskine

    Happy Sunday to you.

This week’s inspirational link TM is an “exhibition of 70 Moleskines by international artists, designers, architects, illustrators, and writers”. There was some debate on my recent post about sketchbooks about whether Moleskines really live up to their hype - and expense. All I’m saying is, there is some amazing stuff here, and be warned, it may make you want to buy a Moleskine of your very own. Just don’t forget there are other A6 sketchbooks out there! Although, as self-indulgences go, I guess a Moleskine habit is a reasonably affordable one, and not that likely to land you in debtor’s prison.

I do think Moleskines are kind of overhyped, but I also love mine. I’ve never tried painting in one … is that really possible? I’ve only looked at the first few in the exhibit, and none of the videos (I’m at work, heh); so far Simonetta Capecchi’s wee long landscape and some of the other watercolors are my favorites.

They are either over-hyped or just really cleverly marketed…or both.I guess it must be possible to paint in them - I only have experience of a very thin-leafed notebook, not designed for art, and have never tried the real deal. Only one way to find out, I suppose!
