Allow me to bring your attention towards the official Philip Bond website.
If you are British and around the same age as me, you may be aware of a comic named Deadline. The most famous artist from that publication was Jamie Hewlett, co-progenitor of Tank Girl and now the official artist for Gorillaz.
But more inspiring to me was Philip Bond’s series Wired World. His two female protagonists wore the uniforms of the Eighties - rolled-up jeans, Doc Martens, short skirts with cycling shorts underneath, bandannas… and they were all beautifully rendered. The strips might have depicted me and my friends rather than the ever-admirable Pips and Liz.
Anyway, I am very glad to see Bond is still drawing and has a website to publicise his work. And anyone who’s wondering what to buy me for my next birthday? I notice he sells his original artwork.
