Water
So, I set ‘water’ as the weekly draw, and it tips down with rain. I have spent most of the day with a toddler dressed in wellies, hat, and raincoat, and there have been many moments which would have made a good picture.
However, no-one wants to sketch in the rain, and I used a photograph from my recent holiday instead. This is the first time I’ve tried to draw a splash, not to mention the first time I’ve ever really looked at the interesting shapes they make.
I reckon you can tell when people draw from photos. Light and shade tend to be very clearly delineated, not to mention the fact that it’s unlikely you could ever perceive, let alone actually draw, a splash in mid-arc.
Anyway, here’s my image.

As usual, I noodled around with it in Photoshop afterwards, but I got to the stage where I thought I could spend hours on it, and I don’t have hours. I’ve put the other version behind a cut, in case you’d like to see it. Please consider it work in progress.

We didn’t have tooo much rain today, just some spitting, although I was inside shopping in Milton Keynes most of the day so I might have missed the worst.
I love this picture, it’s so dynamic and captures that love that children have of puddles :D
I will do my attempt tomorrow night I think, too tired right now =/
This is gorgeous! Such a picture of toddler-energy :-)
