Happy anniversary card
This is a bit of a self-indulgent post, so I’m putting it up between proper ones with tasks. I’ve just drawn a wedding anniversary card to give my husband tomorrow - it’s our 4th. Now, for the past two years, I’ve been too busy with baby things to really make much of an effort, but what with Drawanyway and all, I thought I’d try a bit harder this year. I hope he likes it.

Of course, the ironic thing is that while I’m sitting at my computer drawing and colouring in, we could be having, you know, an actual conversation.
In case you are interested, this picture follows the same technique I’ve been using a lot recently. I guess it’s the pressed-for-time-full-time-job-mum technique. Or just lazy, I don’t know.
I draw a line drawing, scan it in, then use Photoshop to colour it. One advantage of this is that you don’t lose your original, so if you make a hideous mistake, you don’t have to go right back to square one. And of course, if you save at regular intervals, you’re unlikely ever to ruin the thing.
A rather strange thing I also did was to print out the picture (for the card), then scan in the printed page. Somehow, a scan of a piece of paper, with variations in tone and shadow, looks preferable to me to the very flat colours you’d see if I posted the image as it is on my computer.
The drawing itself I did while spooning yoghurt into our daughter’s mouth. It could have done with a bit more working out. For example, the list of places on the right are important to us - where we got married, honeymooned, etc. I suppose that would have looked a bit better if it tied in with the numbers on the left. But really, the whole thing is just a glorified doodle, coloured in.
